    donning a sweater
    I step outside and embrace
    the shadows—
in my heart I know resistance
    deepens the darkness

    hoping my breath
reaches you far away. . .
    a crescent moon
    holds the brightest star
    on this winter solstice

    the autumn sun
    follows me down the bench…
    touching things
    I hope you will find
when I am no longer here
