donning a sweater
I step outside and embrace
the shadows—
in my heart I know resistance
deepens the darkness
hoping my breath
reaches you far away. . .
a crescent moon
holds the brightest star
on this winter solstice
the autumn sun
follows me down the bench…
touching things
