We are developing an Under the Basho, Living Haiku Anthology (online), bringing a multicultural voice of haiku to the general public.· The Living Haiku Anthology's mission is to provide numerous and varied haiku, free of charge, to readers from all over the world including schools of education at all levels.· It will be an ongoing adventure rooted in the Under the Basho website, growing poem by poem, poet by poet, as years go by.

An authentic anthology of haiku isn't complete until people from all styles are represented. Haiku is a street poem; it is a poem that reaches all walks of life; it is a poem that can be simple and unobtrusive and yet a poem that can cause, through delicately engineered reader resistance, weeks of pondering as to what it means and its ensuing significance, if any.

The Living Haiku Anthology will be populated by two avenues:

  1. transfers from Under the Basho bi-annual journal (automatically, following the 60th day of publication);
  2. through submissions of groups of 5 to 15 poems, new or previously published, by poets who want to continue to enhance their presence in the Anthology.

By staying true to these procedures, the anthology will never become outdated or cliché; and, it will be available to the public 24 hours a day for perusing.
(Please Note: the Anthology does not accept Concrete Haiku poems for anthologizing at this time.)

This is a project for everyone. Get excited; get involved. Encourage yourself and fellow poets to join in. If you are passionate about haiku, then this is another excellent project for you to become involved with.

Join your voice "in the mix".
