insomnia seeps                  
from the tangleof silk sheets            
as midnight closes                   
my bed a crumpled orchid   
scattering golden petals

impatient for sun            
to pare fog from the dawn sky
I glance through the blinds
hearing the birds relentless    
voices in the rata tree
